The Israel Defense Forces tested a unique Gabriel 5 anti-ship missile
The Israeli military tested the new Gabriel 5 missile. It was launched from the corvette Magen Sa'ar 6.
Here's What We Know
Gabriel 5 is an advanced Israeli anti-ship missile developed by Israel Aerospace Industries in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense and the Israeli Navy. It can destroy enemy targets at a range of 200 km, regardless of weather conditions.
Tests of the missile were successful. It was launched from the corvette Magen Sa'ar 6 and successfully hit the target. The IDF says that Gabriel 5 is a unique anti-ship missile that has no analogues in the world.
It is also worth noting that the Magen Sa'ar 6, from which the Gabriel 5 was launched, is also unusual. It is one of the first ships of the Israeli Navy to carry a new version of the Iron Dome surface-to-air missile system. It is called the C-Dome.
Magen Sa'ar 6 was built by the German company Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems. The corvette is equipped with a 76 mm Oto Melara gun, torpedo launchers and supports stealth technology to reduce visibility.
