Rafael unveils sixth-generation Sky Spear aviation missile for new and old fighters

Israeli defence contractor Rafael Advanced Defence Systems has unveiled a new generation air-to-air missile. The ammunition is called the Sky Spear.

The sixth-generation missile, according to the manufacturer, has capabilities that will offer operators a qualitative advantage over the enemy. Rafael does not specify which aircraft will be equipped with the Sky Spear. All that is said is that the new missile can be used on any fighter aircraft.

The Sky Spear is equipped with a next-generation radio-frequency homing head and additional technologies. The missile is aimed at attacking targets at long ranges. Rafael notes that using the Sky Spear will allow it to destroy an enemy before they can react.

The new missile has not yet entered service. In addition, Rafael has not yet started selling the Sky Spear to foreign customers, but is already discussing the sale with potential customers. According to an Israeli company spokesperson, the development of the missile is close to completion.
