North Korea has for the first time demonstrated underwater drones that can carry a nuclear warhead and create a radioactive tsunami

In March 2023, North Korea announced a nuclear sea drone test. At the same time, the country's authorities did not miss the moment to threaten the US with a radioactive tsunami. A few months later, DPRK demonstrated its drones for the first time.

Here's What We Know

The maritime drone was designed for stealthy penetration into the operational waters of the enemy. A story by North Korea's Central News Agency in the spring said that after an explosion, a radioactive tsunami appears and destroys everything in its path, including strike groups and enemy ports.

The spring test lasted more than two days. On 21 March, the maritime drone was submerged underwater, where it spent more than 59 hours. Until the military parade that took place in North Korea the day before, we hadn't seen what the drone looked like.

The event revealed that North Korea has at least four drones that can carry a nuclear charge. Each one is equipped with a nuclear propulsion system. The technical specifications are not specified. But now we known the name of the naval drone - Haeil.
