Rare to add Easy Anti-Cheat system to Sea of Thieves next week

Rare, the developer of Sea of Thieves, has announced an upcoming mid-season update that will introduce an anti-cheat system to the game. In a recent Sea of Thieves News video, the studio revealed that they will be implementing Epic's Easy Anti-Cheat, a system used in popular online games such as Fortnite and Apex Legends:

Here's What We Know

In addition to the anti-cheat measures, the update will give Sea of Thieves players access to Safer Seas without the need for an online subscription, which is actually a significant change as Sea of Thieves on consoles usually requires an Xbox Game Pass subscription.

Safer Seas is a mode that allows players to disable the multiplayer aspects of Sea of Thieves. By eliminating the risk of colliding with other pirate crews, players can explore the entire map on their own, enjoying a variety of adventures and content at a reduced cost.

In addition, the upcoming PS5 version of Sea of Thieves will allow players to access Safer Seas without a PlayStation Plus subscription. However, playing on the game's regular servers will still require the appropriate subscription on consoles.
