The Long Dark will have the first paid addition in the form of a season ticket

The developers of The Long Dark have announced that they will release the first paid add-on for the game during the year. The details are as follows: 

• C is focused on survival mode.
• The distribution scheme is similar to a seasonal subscription: for 15-18 months, DLC owners will receive various new content on a regular basis.
• Additions include new regions, mechanics, tests, and more.
• The composition of the season ticket can be purchased in pieces - it will be divided into three or four additions.
• For those who decide not to buy DLC, free updates will be released, but they will usually be less than paid ones.
• The fifth episode of the story mode will still be released as a free update for all owners of The Long Dark

The developers themselves admitted that after eight years of "free" updates, they wanted to make the game more "financially self-sufficient", so they decided to prepare a paid season ticket. In addition, a lot of effort has been spent in recent months to develop the story mode and survival mode separately - due to a number of decisions in the early stages of production, the regimes were very interdependent. Now that they are divided, "Survival" has become easier to update and they should be more frequent. 

The fifth episode of the story campaign The Long Dark is planned to be released in 2023. According to Van Lirop, in 2022, most likely, significant news about the last section will not appear.
