Apple will pay for iPhone 4S performance problems - "as much as" $15 per person
Apple has agreed to settle a long-running class action lawsuit filed 6 years ago.
What do you think?
The class action lawsuit was originally filed in December 2015 by plaintiffs representing a group of New York and New Jersey clients. All of them are owners of iPhone 4S smartphones, who accused Apple of deliberately slowing down the devices.
This happened in 2015 after the release of the iOS 9 update. The OS was touted as providing amazing performance on supported devices, including the iPhone 4S. Instead, the plaintiffs allege that iOS 9 significantly reduced the performance of their gadgets.
As a result, Apple agreed to provide $20 million in compensation to iPhone 4S owners in New York and New Jersey who experienced poor performance after updating to iOS 9. True, that's only $15 per person.
Customers who believe they are eligible for compensation may submit a claim by providing their name, email address, iPhone 4S serial number (if applicable), and mailing address.
