The next-generation 13.6" MacBook Air, which is powered by the M2 chip announced at WWDC, was introduced this week by Apple. It won't be available until the following month, according to a recent Bloomberg report, but Apple is already working on a 15" MacBook Air that it plans to release as early as next spring, making it the first laptop of that size in the Air series. The 15" MacBook Air is a larger version of the 13.6" MacBook Air launched last week; as such, it won't have the wedge-shaped frame seen on previous versions.

According to a purported inside source, Apple is also working on a 12" laptop that will be released towards the end of 2023 or early 2024. If this happens, it will be Apple's smallest notebook since it discontinued the 12" MacBook in 2019. Although it's uncertain if these will be part of the MacBook Air lineup or the Pro series, Apple is expected to release M2 Pro and M2 Max-powered high-end MacBook Pro laptops by the end of 2022. They are known as J414 and J416 and will be available in 14" and 16".

The M2 Pro chip is expected to begin mass production later this year, and will be produced by TSMC. The 3nm process will be used, with four efficiency and eight performance cores. The M2 Max, on the other hand, features 12 primary processing cores connected by as many as 38 graphics cores. Apple has also begun work on the M3 chip, which is expected to power iMacs in the future and other Apple devices.
