According to the latest rumors, AMD is already working on a new CPU based on the Zen4 and RDNA3 designs for the new Steam Deck console. It will be a smaller version of AMD's upcoming Phoenix Point APU and the next-generation Van Gogh chip currently used in its gaming system.

An insider and host of the Moore's Law is Dead YouTube channel claims that the new SoC will receive four cores and eight instruction streams. The graphic part will have eight execution units.

It is claimed that the processor configuration will be similar to Mendocino, only on a more modern architecture - Zen4 instead of Zen2. This will reduce power consumption and heat. But the graphics subsystem will be 50% more energy efficient than in the current version. How much computing power will increase is not reported.

It has not yet been specified when such a console will enter the market. However, the development of the chip has just begun, therefore, according to the source, it may take several years.
