The Russian military sells and exchanges spare parts for armored vehicles for alcohol
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry reports that the Russian military steal spare parts from their own armored vehicles, and then sell them or exchange them for alcohol.
What is known
Russian armored vehicles that entered the territory of Ukraine suffer twice. First from Ukrainian shells, and then from their own military.
According to the Main Directorate of Intelligence, the Russians send the wrecked equipment home, but along the way it turns into a pile of scrap metal that cannot be repaired. Russian soldiers strip tanks, armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles of batteries, weapons control units and other spare parts in order to sell them or exchange them for alcohol.
The Russian command intends to conduct an investigation into cases of theft of armored vehicles. It is also planned to strengthen the security of the echelons that accompany the broken equipment for repairs.
