Analysts have calculated the cost of Xiaomi 12S Ultra, and it is $380 less than the market price
In early July, Xiaomi expanded its collection of flagship smartphones, introducing the Xiaomi 12S line. The top model became the smartphone Xiaomi 12S Ultra, which is the successor of Xiaomi 11 Ultra. BoM Counterpoint Research analysts decided to find out how much the gadget itself costs, that is, to calculate its cost.
How much?
As the calculations showed, the cost of Xiaomi 12S Ultra, equipped with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of memory, is equal to $516. Recall, on store shelves this model costs $ 899, that is $ 383 more.
Analysts note that the processing, display and imaging subsystems, along with memory, account for almost 67% of the total production cost. And that's no surprise, since the Xiaomi 12S Ultra uses the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus platform, an all-new Samsung E5 LTPO 2.0 OLED display and an industry-leading 1-inch 50-megapixel primary camera developed in collaboration with Leica.
In terms of suppliers, Qualcomm, Samsung and Sony are among the beneficiaries. Qualcomm has a wide range of design advances, from the SoC and paired power management and RF transceiver to RF interface components, connectivity ICs and audio codec. The latter two vendors provide the display panel, LPDDR5 RAM and image sensors, respectively.
But keep in mind that only the cost of parts - without development, shipping and marketing costs - is included in the costing.
