Jason Schreyer: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will have a paid storyline expansion. Release in late 2022 - early 2023
According to a well-known Bloomberg insider Jason Schreier referring to @TheGhostOfHope, Modern Warfare 2 will have paid story DLC, which is scheduled for release in late 2022 - early 2023. This is due to the new policy of Activision, when a new part of Call of Duty is released every two years, and not every year, as it was before. So the add-on will be able to compensate for the annual pause in the series.
Here's What We Know
Here's what Schreyer had to say about it:
"Next year they’ll be selling new stuff for MW2, an expansion or something like that (not sure exactly what it’ll look like but it’ll have campaign stuff too)"
Schreyer previously hinted that in early 2022, paid DLC will appear in Modern Warfare 2, and in 2023 it is planned to release free Call of Duty. Most likely, we are talking about Warzone 2.
Flashback
According to Bloomberg, Activison is actively discussing the possibility to stop releasing a new Call of Duty every year. So there is a high probability that Modern Warfare II will be the last game in the series for more than a year. And in 2024 we will see the next Call of Duty from Treyarch.
When We Can Expect It
Modern Warfare 2 will be released on October 28, 2022 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
