That's it: in March 2023, all Disney content will disappear from online cinemas in Russia

In March 2022, at the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, Disney announced its withdrawal from the Russian market. First, the company stopped showing its films in Russian cinemas. And in October 2022, the company began to actively delete its websites with a Russian domain, videos from its Russian YouTube channels and social media accounts. Now, according to Russian media, in March this year, all Disney content will disappear from online cinemas in Russia.

Here's What We Know

In March 2023, Russian video services will not be able to extend contracts to show Disney TV series, films and cartoons. Currently, Disney content is available in 3 major online cinemas in Russia, but it is only a matter of time. Back in 2022, Disney announced that it would not extend the agreements.

The disappearance of Disney content could negatively affect audience loyalty and lead to a 2-3% decrease in the profits of those online cinemas that could show the company's films. The most popular content in Russia was children's and family content. Namely, the animated films The Lion King, Zootopia, Frozen, Encanto, Cruella, Soul, Paradise and the Last Dragon, and the Home Alone film franchise.

So now Russians will have to watch their own "Analogue Network" cinema.
