UK sales chart for January 2023: 125,000 consoles were sold, and FIFA 23 was the most bought game
Gamesindustry has shared a new report on the sales chart for January 2023 in the UK. Gamers bought 125,000 consoles, and FIFA 23 became the most popular game.
Here's What We Know
In total, 2.24 million copies of video games (digital and physical editions) were sold. However, this is 4.4% less than in 2022. One of the reasons is that Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but this year, the first month of winter did not bring so many high-profile titles.
This January, FIFA 23 was the most bought title, with sales significantly exceeding those of FIFA 22 in January last year. At the same time, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 also showed higher sales in January compared to last year. Rockstar projects took 2nd and 4th place.
The third place was taken by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The game shows much better results than Call of Duty Vanguard, but sales slowed down faster than Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
And the most popular new release is the remake of Dead Space, which ranks 6th in the chart.
The situation with consoles is also interesting. 125,000 consoles were sold. The leader was the PlayStation 5, whose sales increased by 98% compared to January last year. The God of War Ragnarok bundle accounted for 55% of PS5 sales. This bundle replaced the PS5 version of Horizon Forbidden West.
The second most popular console was the Nintendo Switch, but its sales continue to slow down as the console is about to turn 6 years old. In January, the OLED version accounted for 61% of Switch sales.
