Qualcomm introduces Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2: a new processor for mid-range smartphones
Qualcomm, as promised, held an event today to announce a new processor for mid-range smartphones.
Here's What We Know
The rumours have not been confirmed. The company decided to skip the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 and revealed the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 immediately. According to the manufacturer, the new chip is significantly different in performance and power efficiency compared to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor.
The SoC has got a 1 + 3 + 4 core layout. The main core is Kryo with a maximum clock speed of 2.91GHz. Qualcomm claims that the performance of the chip has increased by 50%. The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 also boasts of a new Adreno GPU with a two-fold performance boost.
In addition, the new chip gets a revamped ISP module with support for cameras up to 200 MP, Qualcomm's proprietary AI Engine technology with accelerated AI function processing, and the Snapdragon X62 5G Modem-RF with download speeds up to 4.4 Gbps. Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC-based smartphones will support 4G/5G Dual-Sim Dual Active (DSDA).
