Tesla recalls 35 Semi electric trucks due to brake problems

About four months after the start of deliveries, Tesla is forced to recall several dozen Semi trucks. The reason was a faulty brake module.

Here's What We Know

Tesla has published a statement to this effect on the website of the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). As it became known, Elon Musk's company is forced to recall 35 trucks.

Bendix, a supplier of electronic parking brake valves, discovered the defect in February 2023. This could cause the vehicle to roll away when parked. However, no such incident has been reported.

Tesla has stated that the defective element will be replaced in 35 electric vehicles free of charge. The owner of all Semi trucks at this stage is PepsiCo (and subsidiary Frito-Lay), so there should be no problem with the recall.

The Tesla Semi was introduced in 2017, but deliveries didn't start until a few months ago. The company has started a separate line at its Nevada plant to assemble the electric trucks.
