The Ukrainian Armed Forces have managed to destroy a rare Russian radar station. It is called Repeynik (Burdock).

Here's What We Know

The radar station was discovered by the reconnaissance of the 30th separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Konstantin Ostrozhsky. They relayed the coordinates to fighters of the 45th Separate Artillery Brigade, which struck with an American M777 155mm howitzer.

Burdock is a state-of-the-art portable radar station. It was adopted into service in 2022. According to open sources, the Russian army had only 11 such stations by mid-January 2023.

Burdock is designed to detect airborne objects that move at speeds of up to 200 km/h. The detection / suppression range of DJI Matrice and DJI Mavic quadcopters is 2.7 / 1.4 km and 2 / 1.2 km respectively, while Bayraktar TB2 is 4.5 / 1.5 km. The station can also detect objects with an effective dispersion area of more than 10 square metres at a distance of 10.6km.
