The Ukrainian Armed Forces have been using German Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers since mid-2022. One artillery unit has set a record for rounds fired.

Here's What We Know

Rheinmetall, the manufacturer of the Panzerhaubitze 2000, states that the barrel in the howitzer must be replaced after 4,500 rounds. However, one artillery piece in Ukraine has fired 20,000 rounds.

This was revealed by Armin Papperger, the head of the company. He did not specify how much the accuracy drops when the number of shots exceeds the life of the barrel several times.
