OpenAI forms team to curb super-intelligent AI

OpenAI has begun building a dedicated team to manage the risks of super-intelligent artificial intelligence.

Here's What We Know

Superintelligence is a hypothetical AI model that surpasses humans in several areas of knowledge at once. OpenAI believes that such technology could emerge before the end of the decade.

The new team will be led by Ilya Sutskever and Jan Leike. In addition, OpenAI will dedicate 20% of its computing power to the development of an automated alignment explorer.

Theoretically, such a system would help the company ensure that super-intelligent AI is used safely and in line with human values. OpenAI will share a roadmap for the project in the future.
