SEGA completes acquisition of Rovio Entertainment, developer of the famous "Angry Birds" mobile game series

This week, SEGA officially completed the acquisition of Angry Birds developer Rovio Entertainment by SEGA, as announced on the Japanese company's Twitter account:

Here's What We Know

SEGA's plans to acquire Rovio for 706 million euros were announced in April this year. At the time of the announcement in April, the deal was described as a "friendly takeover" as Rovio's board of directors supported and approved the proposal. The deal is expected to be finalised by the end of September, Sega said.

According to the report, Sega acquired Rovio to strengthen its portfolio of mobile games for online services. The studio will leverage Rovio's experience in developing real-time mobile games to promote Sega's games in the global mobile gaming market, where there is significant potential. At the same time, Rovio has ambitions to go beyond mobile games, and Sega plans to support this process with its resources.
