In future smartphones Nokia will have wide-angle cameras and optical zoom
The other day HMD released a beta version of the Android 8.0 firmware Oreo for the Nokia 5. It included a redesigned camera application, a detailed analysis of the code which produced curious results.
What's new?
In the application's APK file, enthusiasts found icons for wide-angle and double-optical zoom. Both functions are not displayed anywhere on Nokia 5, since the smartphone is equipped with an "ordinary" camera. Even in the current flagship Nokia 8 uses a system of color and monochrome modules with the same optics. Consequently, these changes are designed for new devices of the Finnish brand.
The icons for shutter speed and ISO sensitivity also indicate plans to update the manual mode - these parameters can not now be changed. In the current version, the application interface is more like a Google camera, although it was expected that HMD will return the circular menu from Lumia Camera.
Looking forward to Nokia 9?
Until now, rumors about the "frameless" Nokia 9 theme of the camera have been bypassed. The renderers show that this will again be a dual module, but there are no details. It is likely that instead of a black and white module, the future flagship will receive a "telephoto lens" for portrait mode or a wide-angle camera. In other models of the line in 2018, other versions of the system may be used, but not in the successor to Nokia 6 .
