Germany transfers a new batch of Piranha armoured personnel carriers to Moldova

Germany has handed over a new batch of Piranha APCs to the Moldovan ground forces.

Here's What We Know

We are talking about two combat vehicles. Previously, Moldova received 3 APCs, and there will be 19 of them in total. The transfer of the vehicles takes place under the contract, which Moldova signed with Germany in October 2021. These are not new APCs. They were previously in service with the Danish army. The Piranha armoured personnel carriers will be used for training. In addition, they can be used in peacekeeping missions.

Flashback

Piranha is a family of multipurpose wheeled armoured vehicles, which was developed by the Swiss company Mowag. Since 2010 it belongs to General Dynamics. The vehicle is produced in different modifications. It is in service in more than 20 countries and is produced under licence by different companies. In total, more than 10,700 of these APCs have been produced.
