France strengthens its position in the Middle East - Saudi Arabia may purchase 54 fourth-generation Dassault Rafale fighters
The Royal Saudi Air Force uses Eurofighter Typhoon and F-15SA Eagle fighters. However, the country's government is now looking for other alternatives. One of them is the French Rafale aircraft.
Here's What We Know
Dassault Aviation is doing well in the Middle East. The French company has received orders from Qatar, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates for a total of nearly two hundred Rafale fighters.
Saudi Arabia is reluctant to buy American aircraft, fearing that the US authorities may stop future deliveries of fighter jets or fighter components. At the same time, Germany does not want to sell the Eurofighter Typhoon to the Kingdom, despite the UK's desire to do so.
Two months ago we wrote that Saudi Arabia may buy 100-200 French Dassault Rafale fighters. According to new information, so far we are talking about the possible purchase of 54 aircraft. The price assessment should be completed by 10 November this year, after which the countries will be able to move on to the next stage of negotiations.
