Called Huawei smartphones, which will get Android 8.0 Oreo
The developers of Huawei have published a list of candidate devices to upgrade to a new version of the EMUI 8.0 shell, based on the Android 8.0 Oreo OS.
What do they promise?
Part of the company's smartphones have already switched to Oreo. On the international versions of Huawei Mate 9/9 Pro and premium Mate 9 Porsche Design update flew back in late January. Recently, the long-awaited update also received the Huawei P10 / P10 Plus.
The next wave is expected in May, when the manufacturer will release firmware for flagships two years ago, Huawei Mate 8 and Huawei P9 / P9 Plus. The timing is for the Chinese market, so in other countries EMUI 8.0 will be available later.
The beta version of the update is already tested on Huawei Nova Youth, also P10 Lite, Nova 2, Nova 2 Plus and Maimang 6, also known as Huawei Nova 2i and Mate 10 Lite (review). The developers did not mention the older models of the flagship series Mate 10, since they originally worked on Android 8 Oreo.
Honor smartphones stand apart. We already told you that Huawei plans to update nine sub-brand models.
What is interesting about EMUI 8.0?
Thanks to the new F2FS file system and artificial intelligence, which analyzes user habits and intelligently distributes hardware resources, the smartphone on EMUI 8.0 does not lose speed in a short time, as it often happens with other devices. Anywhere on the screen, you can place a floating button to access the Android system keys, and by long clicking on the application icons a list of quick actions opens. In other respects, the interface has not changed much, only the settings menu has noticeably reduced.
As usual, older models may remain without some chips of the new version of the shell.
