Netflix is reportedly developing a spin-off of the popular TV series "Wednesday"
According to a report from Bloomberg, a "Wednesday" spin-off focusing on another member of the Addams Family is being discussed.
Here's What We Know
The new series will focus on Uncle Fester, played by Fred Armisen on "Wednesday." It is not yet specified whether he will return to his role in the spin-off. There is a possibility that it will be a story about the past adventures of the weird uncle, so a younger actor may take the lead in the series.
But it's too early to tell, as talks to create a show about Uncle Fester are only in the early stages, and it's not guaranteed that the project will even happen. Amazon, which owns the rights to the Addams Family characters, is reportedly willing to partner with Netflix again.
The only question that remains is whether it's a good idea to take Fester's story as the basis for a series, especially considering how little he appeared on "Wednesday." To be precise, Uncle didn't appear until episode seven, when Wensday was trying to figure out who the serial killer was.
Perhaps the creators of the series see in this character a lot of potential storylines to explore and he, like his niece, will show analytical skills that would find subtle clues to solve mysteries.
The first season of "Wednesday" was released in November 2022, and in January 2023 it was announced that it would be renewed for a second season, which is set to begin shooting in April 2024.
