Jeffrey Wright waits for Matt Reeves' Bat-signal: The actor still hasn't read the script for "Batman - Part II"

Oscar-nominated performer Jeffrey Wright, who plays Lieutenant Jim Gordon of the Gotham PD, will return to his role in the sequel officially announced by Matt Reeves and Warner Bros. in April 2022. Since then, there have been almost no updates on the sequel, and Wright has just admitted that he still hasn't even seen the script.

Here's What We Know

Due to the 2023 screenwriters' strike, which lasted 148 days, Reeves, along with co-writer Mattson Tomlin, had to put the script on hold. But after the strikes ended, almost all projects instantly picked up momentum, and the script for "Batman - Part II" still hasn't been submitted.

In December, DC Studios co-head James Gunn said he was also waiting for Reeves to submit a script before filming is scheduled to begin in the summer.

"You've seen as much of a script as I have at this point" Wright said. "I don't want to jump ahead. I just want to go forward with it.".

Wright also stated that he has no doubt the script will be great.

"I'm being patient, letting Matt Reeves do his thing — which is going to be magical and wonderful — and looking forward to diving back into it when the time comes.".

Here's What The Movie Is About

The plot remains under wraps, but rumours suggest that the characters Hush and Clayface, as well as Gotham's new chief prosecutor, the future Two-Face Harvey Dent, may be infiltrating the Batman story world.

We already know that Wright will return to the role of Lieutenant Jim Gordon. Of course Robert Pattinson will take over as the Dark Knight, and Andy Serkis will return as Bruce Wayne's confidant, Alfred Pennyworth.

"Batman - Part II" is scheduled for release in cinemas on October 3, 2025.
