Metro Awakening, a single-player VR game not developed by 4A Games, was shown for the first time at State of Play

We wrote that the next instalment of Metro was rumoured to be a single-player VR game and would be subtitled Awakening. And during PlayStation State of Play, this information was confirmed.

Here's What We Know

It is worth noting that the game is not the main one in the Metro series, as Awakening takes place in 2028. And the game is developed not by the Ukrainian studio 4A Games but by the Dutch Vertigo Games, which is known for the Arizona Sunshine series.

Players will take on the role of Serdar, a doctor who challenges the darkness, radiation, and deadly threats of the Moscow metro in search of his wife and the medicine she needs.

From the trailer, it becomes clear that we will see shootouts, stealth, encounters with mutants and horror elements.

When We Can Expect It

Metro Awakening will be released in 2024 and will be available on Steam VR, PS VR2, and Meta Quest 2 and 3.
