Sony adds support for PlayStation account access keys

Sony has introduced new options for logging into your console account. PlayStation account holders will soon be able to use a passcode as an alternative to a password when logging into an account online, in an app, or on a PlayStation device.

Here's What We Know

In a new X/Twitter post, Sony announced that users will be able to log into their PlayStation account using passcodes starting today. The company also says on its support page that access key support will be available on the PlayStation website, apps, and PlayStation devices.

Once players set up an access code for their PlayStation account, they will be able to log into that account from their Android smartphone by confirming their identity using biometric authentication. Such as with a fingerprint scanner or a PIN/graphic key/password for the device. If you have an iPhone, you'll be able to log in using Face ID, Touch ID, or through your device passcode.

Access keys are considered more secure and convenient than regular passwords. Many companies have recently added support for passkeys, including Google, Microsoft, Best Buy, PayPal, and eBay.
