Samsung has revealed a flexible smartphone to wear on a wrist

Samsung often has interesting smartphone concepts that they showcase at global trade shows. At this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC), the South Korean firm showed off an unusual, flexible smartphone that can be bent and worn on the wrist.

Here's What We've Seen

The concept for this bendable phone is called the Cling Band. It features a flexible OLED screen and can be used as a smartphone or smart watch, depending on the use case. In monoblock mode, the device looks like a regular smartphone that features a slim form factor, a frameless screen on the front and a single camera on the back. It also features a USB Type-C port and a speaker at the bottom of the smartphone. The grooved design supports a flexible screen when the device is bent.

When bent, the smartphone resembles an arch. On the back, next to the camera, there is a heart rate sensor. Thus, when worn on the wrist, it can track heart rate and other health indicators. At this stage, it's just a concept designed to showcase the flexibility of Samsung Display's OLED screens. The problem with this concept is that when you use the device as a phone, it won't be able to measure your heart rate and other metrics, so it will only ever have a fraction of your health data. In addition, it will be inconvenient to use it while you sleep. Perhaps the novelty will be further refined in the future.
