$455m contract: Nigeria buys 12 AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters from Bell

Nigeria has signed a contract with Bell to produce and deliver AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters.

Here's What We Know

The information was shared by the US Department of Defence. The contract is designed for $455 million. For this money Nigeria will receive 12 helicopters with the necessary equipment. Bell plans to produce AN-1Z Viper until 2028. After that, deliveries of helicopters will begin.

The AH-1Z Viper is an attack helicopter developed for the US Navy. It is a modernised version of the classic AH-1 Cobra with improved combat effectiveness characteristics. The AH-1Z Viper is equipped with advanced avionics, including night vision and guidance systems. The helicopter also has improved armour and weaponry, including Hellfire missiles and a missile and cannon system. The AH-1Z has been successfully used in combat environments and is considered one of the most effective attack helicopters in the world.
