OpenAI has announced licence agreements with French newspaper Le Monde and Spanish media holding Prisa Media.
Here's What We Know
Under the deals, OpenAI will be able to use content from these publishers, including El Pais, Cinco Dias and El Huffpost, to train artificial intelligence models. The partnerships will also allow ChatGPT users to receive news summaries from these publishers along with links to the original articles in the coming months.
OpenAI chief operating officer Brad Lightcap said the collaboration will enable a new interactive experience with news content through ChatGPT.
Le Monde chief executive Louis Dreyfus described the partnership with OpenAI as a strategic move to expand audience reach while maintaining the publication's journalistic integrity and revenue. Through the deal, accurate and reliable information will be disseminated to AI users, he said.
On the Prisa Media side, CEO Carlos Nunez described the alliance with OpenAI as a "step into the future of news" where technology and human expertise come together to better serve readers.
Financial details of the partnership agreements were not disclosed. OpenAI has previously agreed to use content from the Associated Press and Axel Springer to train its AI models.
