Windows 11 lock screen updated with new widgets
Microsoft continues to improve the Windows 11 lock screen. According to a recent update, several widgets have been added to the Windows 11 lock screen that provide the latest weather, sports, traffic, and stock market updates. All these widgets are powered by MSN sites.
Here's What We Know
The widgets are dynamic: they reveal additional information when you hover over them. When you click on a card (and after logging in), the information opens in Microsoft Edge with full forecasts and the latest updates. This happens even if Windows has a built-in app for this (like the Weather app), which is something Microsoft will probably want to improve in future updates.
Lock screen widgets can be enabled in Settings > Personalisation > Lock screen > Lock screen > Lock screen status > Weather and more. This feature is currently only available to Windows Insiders members in the Release Preview channel (builds 22621.3371 and 22631.3371).
These are the same lock screen widgets that were recently released for Windows 10. However, one issue users may have with this setting is that they can't choose which widgets appear on the lock screen. Once the feature is enabled, you either get all widgets or none at all.
