Critics disappointed: co-operative action game South Park: Snow Day was boring and uninteresting
Tomorrow will see the release of co-op action game South Park: Snow Day! - the next game based on the popular satirical series South Park.
Publisher THQ Nordic positioned the game as a great co-operative entertainment for fans of the franchise, but it turned out that it has a different target audience, and the game itself turned out to be of insufficient quality.
Here's What We Know
Critics published reviews for South Park: Snow Day! and they clearly do not meet the expectations of the developers from Question studio.
On aggregators the game received 61-63 points depending on the platform, and on Opencritic the game is recommended by only 30% of experts.
Reviewers noted that South Park: Snow Day! has all chances to appeal to the young audience, but the problem is that the original animated series is designed for an adult audience and the game had to match it. There is satire and humour in the game, but it's not as sharp as in the TV series and will hardly appeal to South Park fans.
Critics are unanimous: the new game is inferior to South Park: The Stick of Truth and its sequel The Fractured But Whole
As for the gameplay, it is simple and completely undemanding. You can have fun with the game for a while, especially in co-op, but very quickly it becomes repetitive and boring, which is unacceptable for projects in roguelike setting.
South Park: Snow Day! will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch.
