Rabbit, the maker of the r1 handheld AI device, has announced a partnership with ElevenLabs to provide voice control on its gadgets. The first batch of $199 r1 devices will leave the factory by 31 March and will reach customers in the coming weeks.

Here's What We Know

According to Rabbit, ElevenLabs' technology will enable users to give voice commands and the r1 will respond to them. At launch, the feature will only be available in English with one voice option. The company said their low-latency models will make interaction more natural.

"Our collaboration is about making the r1 a truly dynamic co-pilot" ElevenLabs CEO Mati Staniszewski said.

Rabbit previously announced that it will use Perplexity AI solutions to answer user questions. Once the device is released, customers will also be able to interact with chatbots, use translation, order rides and food, and listen to music.

Rabbit CEO Jesse Lyu claimed that the company is close to receiving 100,000 pre-orders for the r1.

ElevenLabs, which recently raised an $80m investment, specialises in cloning voice to create audio content. However, its technology has already been criticised for its ability to fake celebrity voices and generate problematic content.
