The success of Fallout won't make Bethesda make a TV series based on The Elder Scrolls or screen adapt another of its games
UK retail chain GAME recently conducted a survey among its users to find out which game adaptations gamers are most interested in.
More than 30% of respondents said they would like to see a film or TV series based on The Elder Scrolls, Bethesda's most successful franchise.
It can be assumed that after the success of the Fallout series, the American company will take up the film adaptation of TES or any other of its games, but the head of Bethesda has a different opinion.
Here's What We Know
IGN asked Todd Howard what his plans are for Bethesda's film adaptations.
It turned out that Howard has no plans, as he believes that a successful game is no guarantee of a successful film adaptation.
Moreover, he did not want to screen Fallout, but after long discussions with Jonathan Nolan came to the conclusion that the director and showrunner has an excellent understanding of the post-apocalyptic franchise, has interesting ideas and will be able to make a decent series.
The Fallout series came about because all the stars aligned for it. Nobody forced us to do it. Our relationship [with the writers of the series] developed naturally, from a sense of "hey, that sounds cool!". It wasn't like someone said: "We should do a TV series." In that case, it wouldn't have worked out.
Anyway, for now, Todd Howard will take on video games, but who knows, maybe the stars will align again and audiences will get some more great film adaptations of Bethesda games.
