After eight years, The Night Manager series starring Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie has been renewed for multiple seasons at once

It's been a long eight years since we've heard anything about a sequel to The Night Manager, and here's two pieces of good news in the form of two new seasons. The BBC has officially renewed the 2016 spy mini-series starring Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie for a second and third season. Filming will begin later this year in London and South America.

Here's What We Know

It's worth noting that this time around, Laurie will take on executive producer duties and it's not yet clear if he will return to his role as gun dealer Richard Roper. BAFTA-winning director Georgi Banks-Davies will be the new director.

It is reported that the events of the second season will unfold in real time, that is, eight years after the events of the first season. In addition, the plot of the sequel will be markedly different and will go beyond the original novel, written by John le Carré.

Series Overview

The plot of the upcoming seasons is still being kept secret.

The original story is about Jonathan Pine (played by Hiddleston), a night manager of a luxury hotel in Cairo and a former British soldier who was hired by Angela Burr, embodied by Olivia Colman, manager of the Foreign Office team investigating illegal arms sales, to infiltrate the inner circle of arms dealer Richard Roper.

As a reminder, the first season was a huge success and won a number of awards, including an Emmy Award for Best Mini-Series.

When We Can Expect It

The second and third seasons of The Night Manager have not yet been given a release date.
