"Expansion" of space? China launches SuperView-3 remote sensing satellite
China continues to develop a commercial remote sensing satellite group by launching the SuperView-3 (01) satellite into space.
Here's What We Know
The Long March 2D rocket lifted off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre at 06:12 EET. Soon after, the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) confirmed the successful launch.
SuperView-3(01), also known as Gaojing-3(01), stands out for its technological superiority. This optical remote sensing satellite has an extraordinary resolution of up to 0.5 metres, and its combined image covers even the most remote regions of the Earth's surface.
The purpose of SuperView-3(01) goes far beyond a simple "view from above". The satellite can provide a wide range of commercial remote sensing services. In other words, it can support agriculture, help with urban planning and create three-dimensional maps.
It is also worth noting that SuperView-3(01) will be a useful tool in natural disaster prevention and marine monitoring.
For China, this "expansion" is a large-scale strategy for the development of the commercial segment of the space industry. CASC is actively working to create a new generation of commercial satellite remote sensing systems.
