Manor Lords is not like Total War or Age of Empires: indie strategy game developer explains what kind of gameplay to expect from his game
In a few days the release of the ambitious medieval strategy game Manor Lords, which is the most anticipated game on Steam, will take place.
The game is developed by a lone game designer Grzegorz Styczeń, known under the nickname Slavic Magic.
Realising that his game is getting a lot of attention, the author decided to explain what to expect from Manor Lords.
Here's What We Know
On the game's Steam page Grzegorz Styceni said that Manor Lords is not similar to the popular Total War games, because in his game battles are given much less attention than building settlements and satisfying the needs of their inhabitants. And the battles, if they happen, are not as big as in Creative Assembly games.
Slavic Magic also noted that Manor Lords lacks complex RPG elements. Of course, gamers will be able to take control of one character and walk around the settlement with him in third-person view, but this option is added rather for the sake of aesthetics and (so far) does not imply other actions in this mode.
Grzegorz Styceni warned that fans of competitive RTS, such as Age of Empires or Starcraft, should not expect the same gameplay in Manor Lords, because there are no network modes in his game and in general it is much slower and quieter.
The author tried to cool down the expectations of gamers with the message that Manor Lords is his first major project and only early version of it will be released on the 26th of April, so it may have some number of bugs, bugs or bad decisions. This is a normal process and the author promises to constantly improve the game and introduce new content, but he is not yet ready to announce development plans for Manor Lords.
At first, the game will be released only on PC, but later it will be available on Xbox Series as well.
