NVIDIA CEO predicts widespread use of humanoid robots in the population
NVIDIA CEO, Jensen Huang, shared his vision of the future in a recent interview, predicting that humanoid robots will soon become mainstream products, revolutionising various industries.
Here's What We Know
Huang emphasised that production costs for humanoid robots will be low, comparable to the price range of cheap cars. He suggested a price range of $10,000 to $20,000 for these robots, making them affordable to a wide range of consumers.
Making comparisons to the automotive industry, Huang highlighted the potential adaptability and versatility of robots in certain artificial environments. He expressed that such robots could be effective in performing dangerous, monotonous or labour-intensive tasks, thereby increasing productivity and safety in the workplace.
Supporting Huang's vision, Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, also pointed out that the production cost of the Optimus humanoid robot is only half the cost of Tesla's electric cars. Musk presented an initial price tag for Optimus of between $25,000 and $30,000, with expected reductions over time.
Last month, NVIDIA unveiled Project GR00T, a base model for humanoid robots, and introduced Jetson Thor, a powerful computer system specifically designed for these robots. Jetson Thor is based on NVIDIA's Thor chip system, which offers advanced performance, energy efficiency, and compact size to advance the field of humanoid robotics.
In addition, NVIDIA's collaboration with leading humanoid robot manufacturers such as 1X Technologies, Agility Robotics and Boston Dynamics underscores the combined efforts in building sophisticated artificial intelligence platforms for robotics.
