New Nintendo Switch 2 details revealed: console will get magnetic Joy-Con mounts

Spanish portal Vandal has shared some interesting news about the next console from Nintendo, which the media is still calling Switch 2.

Here's What We Know

The Spaniards spoke to peripheral accessory manufacturers, who, according to the latter, got a glimpse of the new console. They reported that the Switch 2's body is slightly larger than the 2017 device, but smaller than the Steam Deck.

According to sources, the Joy-Con controllers in the new model are attached by magnets rather than a rail system, which should increase their stability.

The Pro Controller gamepad will reportedly be fully compatible with the Switch 2 and users won't have to buy a separate one. However, the Joy-Con from the older version of the Nintendo Switch will not be compatible with the next iteration of the console.

All sources agree that Nintendo Switch 2 sales will start in early 2025. And it is claimed that the delay in release is due to a lack of games for the new console, while the device itself is fully ready.

Obviously, Nintendo will hold a presentation of the console in the coming months, but it will definitely not happen at gamescom 2024, as the company has already announced that it is refusing to participate in the German exhibition
