Star Wars Outlaws developers tell details about the game's reputation system
Star Wars Outlaws' Senior Narrative Designer Alice Rendell and Lead System Designer Matthieu Delisle have shared details about the game's reputation system in an interview with GameInformer.
Here's What We Know
Delisle explains how your character's connections in the game, especially in the Star Wars underworld, open up different opportunities and carry different risks. The idea of the reputation system came from the studio's desire to tell a story about villains.
"Very early on, we knew that we wanted to do a scoundrel story. And we knew we wanted the game to be about choice and consequences, so pretty naturally, reputation came as a medium for the player to interact with the game.".
The developers emphasise that the protagonist Kay Vess is portrayed as a self-serving villain, emphasising her opportunistic interaction with factions. Randall emphasises that every game mechanic revolves around the reputation system.
Players can make full use of this system, even risking their own reputation for profit by betraying factions. For example, Kay can steal or simply enter a faction's territory based on her reputation.
When We Can Expect It
Star Wars Outlaws is scheduled for release on 30 August.
