Former developers who worked on the XCOM strategy have founded a new studio - Midsummer Studios
Veteran developers from the gaming industry, including people who worked on XCOM, formed a new studio in Hunt Valley, Maryland, called Midsummer Studios. XCOM's creative director Jake Solomon and game director Will Miller took the helm. They were also joined by Nelsi Birch, who took the position of CFO, and executive producer Grant Rodiek, who previously worked at Maxis.
Here's What We Know
Midsummer Studios has already started teasing its first project, which will be a simulation game with a focus on player-driven narratives. The studio has received $6 million for development from various investors, including 1Up Ventures, F4 Fund, Transcend Fund, and Krafton.
"The best stories in games are written by the players. At Midsummer we’re making a life sim focused on the drama of modern life, where our players will write meaningful stories just by playing, and then share those stories with the world."
