Bloomberg: US plans to send an additional Patriot SAM battery and radars to Ukraine in the near future

It is known that Ukraine desperately needs modern air defences to protect its cities and critical infrastructure from almost daily missile attacks by Russia.

Romania and Germany have announced their readiness to provide additional air defence equipment, while Spain has already provided missiles for Patriot surface-to-air missile systems.

But as Bloomberg has learnt, the US plans to join the build-up of Ukraine's air defence system as soon as possible.

Here's What We Know

White House sources told Bloomberg reporters that the US government is working intensively on sending an unnamed Patriot SAM battery and radars for it to Ukraine.

The Patriot is likely to be delivered from the $61bn aid package allocated by the US Congress in April.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly emphasised the need to increase the supply of air defence systems. It is possible that the Patriot provided by the US will close the skies over Kharkiv and Kharkiv region, as this very city is currently subjected to the most massive shelling by the terrorist state of russia.

Flashback

Patriot is an anti-aircraft missile system developed by the American company Raytheon. It consists of an air interception missile and a high-performance radar system. The probability of hitting an aircraft is 0.8-0.9, while a tactical missile is 0.6-0.8. The cost of one missile is about $3 million.
