Apple stops signing iOS 17.5, users should upgrade to iOS 17.5.1

Apple has announced that it has discontinued the subscription for iOS 17.5. Users will have to upgrade to newer versions. After the release of iOS 17.5.1 on 20 May, the update was no longer signed.

This decision differs from the usual practice, when subscriptions to the previous version are terminated a week or two after the release of a new release. The ban on signing older versions of iOS prevents them from being installed on iPhone devices due to server-side software verification.

Apple focuses on updates to provide security for users, encouraging them to upgrade to newer versions of the operating system.

The iOS 17.5.1 update fixes a bug that caused lost photos to appear on iPhones. These changes are now available to all owners.
