Ukraine, the US and Israel are negotiating the supply of Israeli Patriot PAC-2 air defence systems to the AFU
Ukraine, the USA and Israel are negotiating the supply of Patriot SAMs, which are currently used by the Israel Defence Forces.
Here's What We Know
The information was shared by the Financial Times. If an agreement is reached, Israel will first poison the SAMs in the USA, and then the systems will be transferred to Ukraine. The Financial Times notes that Israel has not yet decommissioned Patriot because it is afraid of a full-scale war in the region.
By the way, the Israel Defence Force has a total of 8 Patriot batteries in service with an unknown number of launchers. In the future, Israel wants to replace the old systems with newer ones. For example, David's Sling and Iron Dome.
About Israel's Patriot
Israel has in service Patriot PAC-2 SAM batteries based on the chassis of German MAN trucks and semi-trailers. The SAMs come with GEM-T missiles that can intercept air targets up to 160 kilometres away. Unfortunately, the Patriot PAC-2 cannot shoot down ballistic missiles.
