The experiment of porting AAA games to iOS has been a failure: sales of mobile versions of Resident Evil Village, Assassin's Creed: Mirage and other games are underperforming

More and more PC and console games are being ported to mobile devices. First of all it concerns Apple devices, on which such games as Death Stranding, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Resident Evil Village, Hades and Assassin's Creed: Mirage are already available.

It has already been stated that a number of other big-budget games will soon join them, including Assassin's Creed Shadows, World of Warcraft, Frostpunk 2, Valheim and others.

However, statistics show that porting such serious games to smartphones and tablets makes little sense and is financially unpromising.

Here's What We Know

According to the analytical portal Appfigures, the above-mentioned games that are already available on iOS enjoy almost zero popularity.

Experts have calculated that sales of Assassin's Creed Mirage on iPhone/iPad amounted to only 3000 copies, 7000 people bought Resident Evil 4 Remake and about 6000 people bought Resident Evil Village. Death Stranding was the luckiest of all, but it too only had 10,000 copies sold.

These figures are approximate, but they perfectly reflect the general situation, which shows that users of mobile devices prefer arcade free-to-play games and are not ready to pay for high-quality, but still mobile versions, preferring to play AAA games on PC and consoles.

Let us remind you that yesterday Resident Evil 7 Biohazard became available on iPhones, iPads and Macs with M1 chips and higher. So far, nothing indicates that it will be more popular than mobile versions like Assassin's Creed Mirage or Resident Evil Village.
