According to insider information from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the Apple Watch Series 10 will get a larger display and a new chip, but the new health monitoring features that were expected are under threat.
Here's What We Know
- Larger display: Apple Watch Series 10 is expected to have a slightly larger display, similar to the Apple Watch Ultra, while maintaining the overall design of previous models.
- New chip: the new watch will have a new processor, which will replace the S9 chip used in the 2023 models.
- Thinner case: The Series 10 will have a slightly thinner case than the Series 9.
Delays may occur:
- Hypertension detection function: According to Gourmet, the development of the hypertension detection function has encountered some difficulties and its release may be delayed until 2025 or later.
- Sleep apnea detection: This feature also faces challenges related to measuring blood oxygen saturation, which is currently limited in the Apple Watch due to a lawsuit. Apple may find a way around this issue or delay the feature's release.
- 3D printing: Apple is reportedly continuing to explore the possibility of using 3D printing for Apple Watch cases, which could lead to faster production and fewer materials used.
2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of the first Apple Watch. However, it is unclear whether Apple will mark this milestone with special anniversary Series 10 models or leave it for next year.
The Apple Watch Series 10 will be launched in September 2024. The price is currently unknown, but it is expected to be similar to that of the Series 9.
