US buys additional M109A7 self-propelled artillery systems from BAE Systems
Army Technology reports that the United States of America is buying an additional batch of M109A7 artillery systems.
Here's What We Know
The new contract is worth $579.3 million. BAE Systems will produce the systems. The installations are planned to be produced at factories in the United States. By the way, in addition to the UAS themselves, the US Army will also receive special artillery transport vehicles M992A3. The contract is planned to be completed by the end of 2029.
Flashback
The M109A7 is a new 155mm calibre self-propelled artillery vehicle. Compared to the M109A6 Paladin, the modernised howitzer features an updated vehicle design with a new chassis, improved engine, transmission, suspension and control system. It also has improved survivability and boasts an improved loading system (semi-automatic).
