The co-operative It Takes Two was originally codenamed Project Nuts: the game's atmosphere in the early stages of development was darker

The co-operative It Takes Two won the Game of the Year award at The Game Awards 2021. The game has become a real hit, and Hazelight studio decided to show us the game's early concept art.

Here's What We Know

The game was originally codenamed Project Nuts. The atmosphere of the game was darker at first. The concept art, which shows the garage where the first episode of the game takes place, shows a bunch of hammers, screwdrivers, and other building materials, and one of the bosses was supposed to be the Queen of Nails.

And as Josef Fares, the head of the studio, says, "sometimes the game tells us where it wants to go," so in the end we got a more colourful adventure that caught the fancy of millions of people.

We play as Cody and May, a couple on the verge of divorce. Their daughter, without realising it, has turned her parents into dolls, and now they have to go through an unforgettable adventure, mend their relationship, become human again, and return to their daughter. Here, players will find a variety of characters and locations: from an aggressive vacuum cleaner in the family's garage to a war between mice and wasps in a tree in the yard. Each level has new mechanics and modes. There's a level that copies Diablo, and another where you have to race frogs. So, it's unlikely to get boring in this game, and one purchased version is enough to complete the game.
