Disassembling the CMF Phone 1 revealed that repairing it won't be easy
A recent Youtube disassembly of Nothing's CMF Phone 1 smartphone from CMF revealed that despite its modular design, the device is not easy to repair.
Here's What We Know
The back of the phone is attached by four screws with one large knob, called the Accessory Point. Once the screws are removed, the plastic back can be removed with a prying tool.
The battery is hidden under a thin protective layer that can be easily peeled off, but removing it will void the warranty on the device. To access the motherboard, 12 Phillips screws with protective stickers must be removed, which can also void the warranty. The motherboard contains the cameras, chipset, RAM, storage and sensors. However, removing the battery is complicated by a hidden screw under the Accessory Point. The plastic covers over the motherboard and speaker are also harder to remove than on other phones.
Despite its modular design, the CMF Phone 1 ended up with a repairability rating of 6.5 out of 10 due to the aforementioned inconveniences and difficulties.
