Romania is allegedly ready to buy up to 500 Korean K2 tanks
Romania, according to press reports, may purchase 300 to 500 Korean K2 tanks after successful field tests.
Here's What We Know
To demonstrate their commitment to the tanks, Romania may decide to pay for the first batch of 50 K2 tanks in cash. This is stated by the Army Recognition publication with reference to the South Korean media outlet MBC News.
However, Romania has not yet commented on such statements, so they already raise some doubts. And the information that the European country is ready to pay cash for 50 K2 tanks sounds like a fabrication of South Korean journalists.
As a reminder, South Korea has signed a deal worth almost a billion dollars to supply weapons, including K9 self-propelled howitzers and K2 tanks, to Romania.
